Sevillian in love with the sea and classic boats. Sailor and teacher of dinghy sailing since he was very young.
I became a merchant seaman by profession, and I had the opportunity to sail in two historical replicas as emblematic as the Nao Victoria (first round the world trip) and the Galeón Andalucía (Spanish merchant ship of the 17th century), this experience led me to appreciate the beauty of classic ships. The Llaut came into my life revealing to me that my true path is not in merchant ships or large yachts and sailboats, but in the simplicity and beauty of these Mediterranean vessels.
This project arose from the illusion of recovering a Balearic tradition that little by little has been lost, especially in Ibiza, but few silhouettes better represent the essence of Ibiza than that of the “llaüts”, the traditional boats originally made of wood sailing unhurriedly through the crystal clear waters of the coast. Used centuries later as a pleasure boat, its preservation is the best tribute to the noble work of fishermen and the “mestres d’aixa” or riverside carpenters who used local wood for its construction. Today the number of “mestres” has decreased significantly and their dedication is mainly focused on the restoration of antique specimens.
Its dimensions and easy handling make it the perfect boat to approach the most inaccessible beaches, discovering the coast of Ibiza paying tribute to its traditions and its people of the sea, because long before yachts, catamarans and other boats arrived in Ibiza, the “llaüts” were already part of this paradise.
